Blue Color Study, 2002
Acrylic on canvas

I had no specific meaning in mind when I painted this piece;
however, my choice to include it in my portfolio and hang it
in my studio is based on a desire to remember a lesson
hard learned.

We reach and struggle and hold so tight the things we feel
are important, irreplacable, life defining, but if we were able
to see what we actually held in our hands, we might as well
have a fist full of nails. Letting go is the only way to reach for
something better.
